Grizz Travels

Roaming North America

E & J RV Park

After an eventful travel day, as well as news of high winds between Ellensburg, WA and the Idaho border. Not wanting to drive at night in dust-carrying winds, we decided to bed down for the night in Ellensburg.

Initially, we had called the Ellensburg KOA, which would have been our go-to for an overnight or weekend stay. However, KOA never called us back, so we had to scramble around to find a spot to light for the night. We found the E&J RV Park on Campendium, my favorite website for finding campsites. The reviews on Campendium are usually pretty spot-on, and I haven’t been disappointed with the community of RVers over there. However, there were no reviews for the E&J on Campendium. There did appear to be accurate information regarding hookups, etc.

So, I call up the the number for E&J, and I get someone who answers, “Days Inn, how can I help you?”. Kind of disconcerting. I mentioned to the gentleman on the phone that I was looking for the RV park, and he responded that I had reached the right number. After explaining what I needed, he said that they did indeed have space for the night.

Admittedly, I was a bit leery that they would have space for us. Not just an open spot, but a long spot. Pulling the toad, we are around 62 feet long. But okay, let’s give this a try.

The park was easy to find and pulling into the check-in area had plenty of room to park without blocking traffic in the driveway. Just remember to turn in the first driveway off Berry Road, otherwise you’ll be trying to navigate your way around smaller vehicles in a parking lot, which is no easy feat in a bigger rig. Check in was a breeze and took maybe five minutes. With the AAA discount, we paid $45.00.

Amenities

We only stayed overnight, so all we were looking for was full hookups. However, the park offers a range of amenities.

One thing of note is that since you are staying in an RV park attached to a Days Inn, you have access to the hotel amenities as well. For example, the free continental breakfast in the morning.

While we didn’t have any issues with the park, the place appears a little run-down. There are a number of full-time residents, some of which have vehicles of, umm, questionable roadworthiness. There was a bit of trash here and there. But the cans were empty and readily accessible.

The individual campsites are level, and long enough for both the Grizz and our toad. We had no problems with the utilities. The water had good pressure, the stinky slinky fit in the hole with no problem, and the 50 amp power was wired correctly, and appeared steady. We didn’t take advantage of the other available amenities, so I can’t speak for the showers, etc.

As you can see by the picture above, the lanes of I-90 are at the back of the park, an a truck stop is just to the left. If you are sensitive to noise, this might not be the place for you. However, we weren’t bothered by any noise at all, and the traffic on the interstate drops off considerably in the evenings. For an overnight stay on a longer journey, this park will do the job.
